About the Organization:
Nirantara Community Services is a professionally managed microfinance institution based in Karnataka state. We are replicating Grameen Bank system with local modifications. Started during December 2006, Nirantara has formed over 350 groups and mobilized a member base of over 3500 in Bidar and Gulbarga districts of Karnataka. Through two branches, the institution has disbursed over 3900 loans worth INR 25.97 millions with a portfolio outstanding of INR 15.29 millions as of 31st March 2008.

With well streamlined & well accepted micro-credit and micro-insurance products, Nirantara is preparing to provide need-based products/services by establishing operations in 50 districts in four states viz., Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh & Madhya Pradesh in coming five years. Nirantara has already established key strategic partnerships and our current funders include Saadhana, ABN Amro Bank, FWWB, Indian Overseas Bank and BASIX group.

Nirantara is availing technical assistance of International standard by ABN Amro Foundation and MicroSave India (www.microsave.org). The Technical Assistance is helping us in building and standardizing processes and procedures. Area Manager

About the Job:

Nirantara is looking for Area Manager to be currently based out of our Head Office. The AM is essentially an operations manager and has to monitor day-to-day operations of 10 branches and report to the senior management group on regular intervals. The candidate should be highly motivated and willing to work in the challenging yet exciting environment.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

The key role of AM is to ensure management of effective & efficient operations systems and implement strategic business plan of the organization. He has to involve in:

  • Establishment of new branches and necessary systems to make them functional and profitable

  • Planning of branch level projections and achieving them

  • Day to day monitoring of operations of branches and ensuring operational controls

  • Training and motivating branch staff

  • Performance assessment of branch staff and achieving optimum productivity in all levels

  • Work as a bridge between HO and branches and ensure two-way flow of information and communication to all the stakeholders 

Skills/qualifications/experience:

  • Graduate/Post Graduate in any field

  • 3 years of monitoring experience in a professionally managed MFI replicating Grameen Bank System

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and experience dealing with issues of a confidential and sensitive nature.

  • Ability to efficiently and effectively organize and prioritize several tasks at once.

  • Appreciation and support of Nirantara’s mission, values and goals

  • Should know Kannada and Hindi. Knowledge of Marathi and Telugu is added advantage

Human Resources Manager

About the Job:
Nirantara is looking for Human Resources Manager to be based out of our Head Office in Bidar, Karnataka. The candidate should be highly motivated and willing to work in the challenging yet exciting environment. Qualified women are encouraged to apply for the position.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

The key role of Human Resources Manager is to ensure HRM systems working effectively and efficiently as per HR Policy of the institution and implement strategic business plan of the organization. She/he has to:

  • Determine Nirantara’s current and future staffing needs.

  • Manage the administration of HRM policies.

  • Manage Nirantara’s compensation strategy and process.

  • Oversee the recruitment and selection process.

  • Oversee the Performance Management Process.

  • Oversee the training and development programs.

Skills/qualifications/experience:

  • Post Graduate in Management/Social Work with specialization in Human Resources

  • Minimum 2-years of experience in Human Resources Management

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and experience dealing with issues of a confidential and sensitive nature.

Finance Manager

About the Job:
Nirantara is looking for a Finance Manager to be based out of our Head Office. The Finance Manager is essentially a back office professional reporting senior management and coordination with other key departments on day to day basis on financial aspects. The candidate should be highly motivated and willing to work in the challenging yet exciting environment. Qualified women are encouraged to apply for the post.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

The key role of Finance Manager is to ensure management of effective & efficient systems and implement strategic business plan of the organization. He has to involve in:

  • Preparation of financial Projections in branch/HO level in coordination with core team  

  • Day to day monitoring of cash flows, documentation and communication

  • Analysis of Financial Indicators/Ratios and preparation of portfolio reports and comparing them with benchmarks. Reporting the same to senior management on regular intervals

  • Responding to queries of financial institutions/funders, donors and service providers

  • Preparation of funder-wise portfolio reports & utilization certificates and authorization by Chartered Accountant

  • Coordination with other departments in the institutions and internal & statutory auditors  

Skills/qualifications/experience:

  • Graduate/Post Graduate in commerce with specialization in finance

  • Should have strong foundation in accounts and skill in MS Excel

  • 2-3 years of experience in finance management in a professionally managed MFI replicating Grameen System

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and experience dealing with issues of a confidential and sensitive nature.

  • Ability to efficiently and effectively organize and prioritize several tasks at once.

Monitoring & Risk Mitigation Manager

About the Job:
Nirantara is looking for a Monitoring & Risk Mitigation Manager (MRM Manager) to be based out of our Head Office. The executive, in team, need to conduct internal audits of branches in regular intervals and report to the senior management. The candidate should be highly motivated and willing to work in the challenging yet exciting environment.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

The key role of MRM Manager is to involve in monitoring and risk mitigation in all levels of processes in the institution. He has to involve in:

  • Primary role to be responsible for the provision of detailed reliable opinions on the competence, sustainability and productivity of governance, risk management and control process and infrastructure

  • Using process mapping toolkit, constantly involve in risk assessment and mitigation measures

  • Plan and perform audits to ensure that operations are being conducted in accordance with Nirantara's policies and procedures.

  • Provide assurance that all significant operating risks are being handled andminimized effectively in Nirantara

  • Analysing, guiding and recommending improvements in internal control and risk management, which is adherence with sound practice.

  • Ensuring adherence to the parameters of best professional practice as those declared by the Institute of Internal Auditors ( www.theiia.org) and the relevant reports of Basle Committee (www.bis.org).

  • Development and management of MRM Department

Skills/qualifications/experience:

  • Graduate/Post Graduate in any field. Preference will be given to graduates/Post Graduates in Commerce

  • 2-3 years of operational and internal audit experience in a professionally managed MFI replicating Grameen System or experience in the audit & vigilance department of a public sector banks

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and experience dealing with issues of a confidential and sensitive nature.

  • Ability to efficiently and effectively organize and prioritize several tasks at once.

  • Appreciation and support of Nirantara’s mission, values and goals.

  • Should be fluent in English & Hindi both verbal and written

Other requirements:

  • Since the job involves continuous travel, the candidate should be willing to travel to various branch locations
